SUPPORTED PROJECTS
Many good initiatives do not develop and many talents never flourish, often due to a lack of means. Every so often it only takes a little bit of financial support to enable those initiatives and talents to reach their potential. The establishment of the Boumeester foundations, a private initiative, was prompted by this idea.
Each of the three Boumeester foundations mirror a specific field of interest of their founder, Huibert Boumeester. The mr. H.G. Boumeester foundation aims at initiatives that bring benefits to flora and fauna conservation. The lt. general H.G. Boumeester foundation supports projects which will increase the understanding and the conservation of certain Asian cultures. These aims and objectives also express his concern that, without such initiatives, things that he considers valuable might get lost for future generations. As for the aims and objectives of the ir. H.G. Boumeester foundation, these express a strong belief in the value and impact of education and, according to this foundation’s mission statement, the development of a talent should not be impeded by a lack of means.

All three foundations were registered as grant giving charities in the Netherlands in 2005. Each is named after an ancestor of Huibert Boumeester and governed by a board of trustees. The trustees assess the project proposals according to fixed criteria, taking into account the funding priorities as they are specified for each foundation.
